Hi guys,

Do we know if the combination of the new version of avast and the forthcoming version of Comodo will play nicely? (more details here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24687.0

Without a crystal ball there really is no way of knowing that, no one can say how any product with work with a future product. As far as I'm aware the comodo beta version (which should be similar) currently works with avast.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Fine, except you always said that, despite the evidence to the contrary. Here, we have two pcs running both happily (and have always done), and a laptop that had all the same symptoms as the other folk having problems -- to the extent that I had to uninstall the firewall totally. Don't get me wrong here, but I'd rather a developer answered my question.

David, I have vague memories of a developer admitting to an inkling of why the problem was occurring, I'm just wondering if that has been resolved. Surely a crystal ball is not needed for that. Sure, as yet undiscovered problems are a different matter...

Unless you have a specific problem to point out, how can a developer or any one else give you an
answer a hypothetical potential problem?

Bob, Bob, Bob. If you follow my link in my first post on this thread back to last year http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=24687.0, and pop on over to the corresponding posts on the Comodo forums, you'll see that this issue has been discussed fully and in depth. And is not hypothetical!

Don't get me wrong. I like Avast! and I recommend it to anyone who asks, and I like this forum and the level of support it gives. It's main flaw is that issues like this affecting a small number of pcs tend to worm their way down the list of posts (the price of popularity, I suppose). I like both products well enough to have hung on for a resolution rather than just jumping ship, and would value a response that has detail enough to answer the question properly.

Sorry if I seem to be coming on strong about this, but it is important to me and those others that have had the problem, even if they are a minority.

I understand Bob... we can't foresee the future. Right now, there is no problem. Old problems were solved and are due to Comodo and not avast.

Conflict was due to Comodo using memory space of other dll loaded. It was not avast. I've sent a dump file that was analysed by them. Final dot. Trust avast and trust Comodo  8)

Thank you, a straight answer at last. Do you know why this affected some setups but not others? Actually never mind, if it's fixed I can reinstall Comodo on my wife's laptop once the final release is out.

Thanks again

Old ones (version 2.3.6) have some problems. Comodo team has worked hard to 'change' some dll injections on other process area (generally the ones that monitor applications / parent applications) and now they're working. The options of Application Behavior Analysis were improved.
