Avast and Hotmail based e-mail
« on: January 24, 2007, 12:57:09 PM »
My ISP uses a Hotmail based server. This requires SSL settings but with Avast I am unable to send mail and receive errors when sending. Receiving is fine but mail cannot be sent. Is there a setting in Avast other than not to scan outgoing mail. I would like to use Avast since the boot time scan is perfect for fully checking a system before the OS is loaded. Thanks for any information.

Just search the forum. You'll find info how to make avast scan mail with SSL connection, it's been discussed many times. Welcome to the forum  ;)

Which email program are you using?
If I'm not wrong, MS Outlook will use avast plugin that could manage Hotmail accounts without problem.
If you use other email client, you need Stunnel to communicate through SSL connections as in the link that Ylap posted.
