vista shutdown probs
« on: January 23, 2007, 09:07:44 AM »
After installing Avast 4.7.942 I can no longer shutdown Vista. It gets to the point of saying "Shutting Down" but never actually completes.
I've tested this on two machines with the same result.

I'm running Vista Enterprise (32 bit).

Any ideas anyone?

If you close avast (the last option in the 'a' blue icon > Stop On-access protection), will the computer shutdown correctly?
Do you use a firewall? Which one?
Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
Any other security programs that could interfere?

I've stopped the On-Access Protection but still no joy.
I'm using the firewall that comes with Vista and no other antivirus or security software.

I used to have this problem with an older version of Avast on XP64 but newer versions fixed it.

Has anyone tested the latest version of Avast on build 6000 of Vista?

Two computers running Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit together with avast! Professional 4.7.942 are working fine, including correct shutdown.

Is there any hardware that is not being detected (and driver installed) by Vista?
Is there any Windows Events (errors) that could guide us troubleshooting?

Has anyone tested the latest version of Avast on build 6000 of Vista?
No shutdown problems on my tests.
