Avast antivirus U3 edition problem
« on: January 28, 2007, 03:22:19 AM »
Hi,
I have installed the program on my disk on key.
Then I chose "settings" -> "Trusted Hosts" -> "Add Current" to add the current host to the Trusted Hosts list.
I clicked "OK" and "closed" the window.

Then I remove and insert the disk on key again...
The anti virus keeps scanning my computer although I assigned it to the "trusted hosts".
When I check the list - this time "Trusted hosts" is blank!!

Why is that ?

Thanks, Meir.

What operating system are you using? (e.g. Windows 2000 Server...)
-> Win xp sp2
What version of avast! are you using? (e.g. 4.0.160 - you can find this information in the "About avast!..." dialog)
->1.0.108
What version of VPS file are you using? (e.g. 0303-10, 04/15/2003 - you can find this information in "About avast!..." dialog)
0703-0, 13/01/2007
What is your basic hardware configuration? (e.g. Intel Pentium III 800 MHz, 128 MB RAM)
P4 3.0 Ghz, 1GB ram
How do you connect to Internet? (e.g. dial-up, using a proxy server, using a firewall...)
dial up
What is your e-mail client? (e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express, IncrediMail...)
Outlook Express
Do you use other security software? Which one? (e.g. Norton Antivirus...)
zone alarm (but I disabled it and still no change)
What are the steps to reproduce the bug again? (such as what was the system doing at the time of the problem...)
remove the disk on key and then reinsert it
Do any error messages appear? If yes, what exactly do they say?
no

Hello and Welcome to the Forum  ;)

Could you tell us if when you look at the trusted Host after you unplugged it do you still see the current one ?

Thanks

As I said before:
When I unplug it and then plug it again - this time the  "Trusted hosts" is blank!!"
(right after I unplug it, before plugging again - the antivirus is closed)

Thanks.

Ok, I'm sorry

Can you tell us how you unplug it (do you click on the U3 icon that says remove U3 device or just un plug it) ??

Thanks

I unplug it by clicking on the U3 icon that says remove U3 device.
I do not just unplug it.
And before unplugging it - I close the antivirus tray icon. (because if I don't - it won't let me unplug nicely).

Just making sure  ;D
I'm sorry but I don't use Avast for U3 so I have reached my limit of knowledge necessary to help you but hopefully an Alwil Member will help you  :D

Strange... the feature seems to be working correctly here.
Please, add the trusted host again (which won't be visible on the next plug-in), then search your U3 drive for a file called AvastU3.ini (should be somewhere in System\Apps\1F30.... folder) and upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming
Thanks.
