Avast still using an old defunct email address
« on: April 27, 2021, 04:12:48 AM »
I changed my email address in the Windows app last fall when I learned that the company who had been hosting my email address since 1996 was going out of business.

My account correctly shows the new email address, however everything else in the Avast universe still shows the old defunct address and I can find no way to change this. I was just billed for a renewal ... but was never notified ... because I suspect the advisory email went to the old defunct address.  I've requested help via email but haven't received confirmation that my request was received ... probably because it was sent to the old defunct email address.  I have no idea what my order number is and any email containing it would have been received ages and ages ago.  I've tried opening Chat to explain the situation ... but it never opens and just spins ... and spins ... and spins ... and spins.

Can someone here please advise me how to reach a human being who can help me?  No chat bots or anything else AI related please ... I need a real human being.

Thank you.

Hello, my name is Maria Alejos. Yahoo blocked my email address, which happened to be my primary address. Thus I was forced to open a new email address with Hotmail.
I have already added my new address but would like it to become my primary address and suppress the older one.

Please confirm you have received my note and let me know if you have accepted my Hotmail address as the unique one.

Thank you

I wish to change my Avast account email address and don't know how to do it because it won't accept my gmail account password.

Customer support has not been at all helpful either

Hi,

According to ticket 13732241, our support changed the email address associated with your subscription (to the outlook one). You can thus create a new Avast account ( https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/171/ ).
Alternatively, if you still have access to your Gmail email address, then you can reset your Avast account password ( https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/172/ ) and afterwards add the outlook email address as the primary address ( https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Account-FAQ/#idt_0430 ).
