help can't send email

avast updated and i cant send email
i uninstalled and reinstalled  but still cant send email
I can receive but cant send
it says unable to connect to server  127.0.0.1 the server may be down or incorrectly configured
it was working till the update

My first thought would be to run the Mail Protection Wizard again.  Since you uninstalled Avast and reinstalled, the Avast .ini file needs to be configured.

What email client are you using?

If you use the Help file from the main Avast interface, look up Manually configuring email protection.  It will explain how to check the settings of the email client.

If you can receive and not send, then it might be the SMTP server address, or an authentication error.

well,
It was workig fine and
then
it said cannot connect to srver127.0.01
I uninstalled avast
and reinstalled
didnt help
I removed all of my email servers and reinstalled
then installed avast
all works now
I still use netscape 7.1
not sure what happened but I got my email back

It is my belief that the SMTP authentication was changed somewhere along the way.
Even if you were receiving email, the server will look for an SMTP authentication within about 10 minutes.  If it does not see it, it won't process email.
