Spcial characters in mail
« on: February 07, 2004, 06:21:48 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying Avast Pro v4.1.342 and scanning my email with it. I've changed the text in the inbound/outbound scaned email so it should be like this (its in french):
avast! Antivirus: message sortant INFECTÉ:
\eicar.com (EICAR Test-NOT virus!!) À été effacé du message.

But I get this in my emails:
avast! Antivirus: message sortant INFECT+:
\eicar.com (EICAR Test-NOT virus!!) Ó ÚtÚ effacÚ du message.

How can it be changed? Maybe by supporting french? :)

thanks

Hi,

Try the Access On Protection Control, then choose Internet Mail -> Customize. You can change the notes of outgoing & incoming mail to your liking. See format of notes.

big_gie, did you change the texts for plain-text or HTML emails? I.e., do you send your mail in HTML or plaintext format?

Thats whats I've done :)
But in the message, I get wrong characters. If I configure it to put a "é", I get an "Ù" instead...

If you use HTML, it's easy!

Use the HTML character codes instead of direct letters. For a reference, please refer to e.g. http://www.il-st-acad-sci.org/codes.html

For example, instead of
INFECTÉ:
xxx: À été effacé du message.

you would have
INFECTÉ:
xxx: À ét&eacute effac&eacute du message.

Hope this helps,
Vlk
