Known Compatability Problems In Vista??
« on: February 13, 2007, 03:12:23 AM »
I just tried loading Avast Home edition on my new laptop with Windows Vista Home. When I run the .exe I get a warning from Vista saying that this program has known compatability problems and Vista want's to search the internet for a better program. Is there any known problems with Avast Home and Windows Vista?

What is the version number of avast, the latest is 4.7.942, check about avast ?

Is this a Gold (RTM, Release To Manufacturing) version of vista, e.g. not a beta build but a retail, OEM or upgrade version of Vista

I'm redownloading Avast! to be sure but it hasn't been very long since I did. I can't get to the computer at the moment. It's at work and we are currently in the middle of a blizzard.  :o ;D

The computer I'm installing it on is an Acer Aspire 5100 notebook with Vista Home Basic.

Your welcome, glad that you are up and running now.

Norton really can be a spanner in the works for following AVs, even when you have uninstalled. Many happy avast users find the same thing, there system runs faster after its removal.
