red circle
« on: February 20, 2007, 07:27:10 PM »
Hi,
I have, on the avast icon, a red circle that tells me: "The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error".
I went on the site and done all the instructions, including reinstalling avast, but it still doesn't work...
What can I do else ?

This is commonly associated with having another AV installed.

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Are these the instructions you were talking about http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-other-questions.html#idt_1539 ?
Were the services on automatic as mentioned ?

What other security based software do you have that might have an effect ?

I'm at a loss as to what it might be if you have tried the FAQ solution and you 'never' had an AV installed on this system as they are the most common issues.

Yes, the service was on automatic.
I have Ad-aware.
Is it different if it is the server version ? I didn't check the names of the categories in the forum...

I'm only an avast user and have no experience of the server version. I think it would be best you add this to the avast 4 Server forum, where it should be more noticeable. Perhaps one of the Moderators will move it.

So, is the avast! Antivirus service really running? If not, can it be started?

Thanks

Sorry, I had no more internet for a while...
No, the service is not running but I can scan my computer (by the way, I already had a virus...).
When I try to start it, it's written: "Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure."
Also, automatic Avast! update is not working, but I can still update manually.

Thanks,
