Installing Avast on Another Computer
« on: February 25, 2007, 03:06:29 AM »
Hi. I need help. I am looking to install on my dad's computer, but since the Internet on his computer is not working I will have to transfer the Avast files from my computer.

How can I transfer the entire Avast anti-virus program, PLUS the updated definitions? I don't want to just transfer the Avast program and not have the latest definitions.

Can someone please give me some advice? Thank you.

You can't transfer the files from your system onto your fathers system, avast hast to be installed as it need registry keys created some files are in the system folders, so you can't simply transfer the avast program folder.

Download the latest version of avast and save it to your HDD or USB pen drive, transfer that to your fathers system. Use that when you install it, you can use the same registration key, you got sent for yours. If you didn't keep the email that was sent, you will need to re-register, complete the avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.

You can use the information in the link Bob gave about updating the VPS signatures, if your fathers system is to remain off-line or until he an regain connection.
