Avast Home Serial Invalid

Hello,

i have do a clean install of my windows 2000 Pro SP4 today. I have downloaded Avast Home from avast Homepage and register it for Free. I have updated the VPS and a red Popup appears that the Key is invalid....how can that be? I have reregister a new Key it seems that the new Key works but i don't know and a Programm like AVAST.EXE ist every boot trying to access to internet but in the Folder from Avil i cannot find a AVAST.EXE...what's wrong?

Is your system time/date set correctly?
Is the exact program name really AVAST.EXE? There's no such executable in avast!...

Yes Time and all other settings are correct. The new Key works now but i don't know what was the problem.
Yes there Was a AVAST.EXE in the Folder from Avil it was a Virus i have delete it. So all works fine from now.

It would have been nice if you could have sent the sample to avast.

 :'( Yes ....but i have delete it, sorry but in the Past i never had a virus like "AVAST.EXE"......it can be that this virus have modified the "ashAvast.exe" ...so that this was the problem with the Serial i don't know...

Unfortunately there is no way to tell. But, ashavast.exe normally just sits dormant (usually used as a shortcut to launching the on-demand scanner) it isn't an integral part of avast and I don't believe it has anything to do with checking the serial number.
