is this a bug?
« on: September 11, 2007, 03:20:57 PM »
Hello Everyone,
I'm using avast 4 Home Edition (Simplified Chinese Version), When i run the main "avast! Antivirus", it pop-up a page "checklist.chm".The problem is that I cannot check the mark on the bottom "Don't show the page next time (Translated from Chinese)",if i click it, it pops up a windows "Script Error" and ask me if i want to debug it. If I Delete the file "checklist.chm", it will create again when I update the iAVS. Do any one know how to fix this? Thanks!

For some this is an issue but not for all.

You can edit the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\avast4.ini file (assuming you installed avast in the default folder) using notepad or another text editor.

Find the [Simple] section and add the following line ShowHelpCheckList=1, save and exit the file.

It should look like this, I don't know how this might be in the Simplified Chinese Version or if you can enter English text.

It looks the same. All characters are of the English alphabet.

If you can enter English text.
The ini file is the same in all languages (always in English).

My concern was more could felixpf edit the avast4.ini text than if the avast4.ini was in English, if for instance felixpf has a different language keyboard that entered special characters.
