Windows 10 update Avast Icon missing from system tray
« on: May 13, 2021, 07:46:01 PM »
OK, can anyone tell me how to get my Avast program Icon back into my system tray?   Windows 10 did another update last night when I shut down my computer and now it's missing but they have added a weather icon to my task bar.  So they took something away I want and gave me something I don't want, LOL.

Is it not just hidden, I haven't had this issue on my win10 system.

Is it just the icon that is missing or is avast running at all  ?
What does windows security > Virus and threat protection say  ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Yes, Avast is still running as it just told me a scan was finished.  It's just the icon that is missing from the system tray.  I tried googling it and apparently several years this was problem, but couldn't find any recent posts although it happened with the latest update last night.  And there apparently don't seem to be any "hidden" ones in the system tray.

Have you done a Restart since the update?

Thanks, I can't believe it, the Avast icon is back this morning.  Now when they did the update  night before last, I told it to do the update then shut the computer down, which it did.  But now that you mention that, it seems that it doesn't load the updates until you turn it back on the next morning.  But of course last night I shut down the computer and the Avast icon is back this morning.

Glad things are back to normal.
When things don't work right, I always restart the system at least twice.
Then if I still have a problem, I start looking for other solutions.
Today was a great day for problems for me. (I thought yesterday was the 13th?)
1. Space bar on the keyboard stopped working - Fix was a replacement keyboard. Wasted 3 hrs. trying to fix the problem.
2. Monitor orientation switched from horizontal to vertical - Took me about 1/2 hr. to reset the orientation.
Figuring out how to maneuver the mouse was a bit..
3. Bluetooth started to misfunction on my android phone. A restart fixed that problem.
Tomorrow has to be a less problematic day. :)
