Notice to Alwil: company name abuse
« on: March 18, 2007, 06:07:50 PM »
On this site (change hxxp to http, I changed it so that it doesn't get indexed by search engines), they are selling Utorrent 2007 (which is freeware, so it's definitely scam):
Code: [Select]
hxxp://downloadsglobe.com/utorrent/index.aspIf you look closer at the info displayed there, you will probably notice, they are using your company name as the name of the publisher of the program.

There are many of these types of sites selling supposed free versions of software also see here for a number of said sites relating to avast being sold, http://www.avast.com/eng/fraudulent-sales-of-avast-products.html

Not only are they claiming Alwil as the publisher, they are also on the list as selling avast, so I would like to hope Alwil are taking action.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I'm hoping Alwil will take legal actions immediately, otherwise this could give Alwil a bad name.

Yes if Alwil wants to keep its "good program" reputation intact it should put pressure on the people in power to shutdown the websites.  >:(
