The beta has now been updated to version 4.7.979. To update to this version from the previous beta, simply invoke program update from the avast GUI.

All known problems should be fixed in this build. The official release is quickly approaching.

Thanks

Looking forward to the final release. The added unpacking support for installer files is certainly a very welcome feature.

I've noticed that when I double click on a word document, Word 2007 returns an error that windows [vista enterprise] can't open the file.  MS indicates that the problem is related to the delay caused by Avast virus scan.  Has this been addressed in the beta?  If not, please add it to the list of items.  As an alternative, is there perhaps a way to disable the virus scan for Word?  Thanks.

I think the behavior should be improved - but why don't you test it with the beta yourself? ;)

Just installed with no problems , beta 4.7.979 is running very nicely . Maybe less memory usage as I can feel smoother performance overall with scans , browsing , and in general performance .
No issues to report so far .  :)

Thomas123, did you use the additional patch I sent to your email the day before yesterday?
V979 is not supposed to fix your issue, there was one additional post-979 patch that is.

Cheers

The new version has now been officially released as v4.7.981. The beta program is now closed. Thanks to anyone who helped testing this release.

BTW, to switch from the beta to the official release version, simply invoke Program Update from within the avast GUI.
