The free version of AVG anti spyware is similar to SpyBot or AdAware, it does not do real-time monitoring, so it shouldn't be a problem. It is generally a good idea to have an antivirus product and at least one separate anti spyware product at the same time (I have two). There is no single anti spyware product out there that will actually catch everything you can get on your computer, so doubling up can keep your system very clean.

Best is a very subjective (and also depends on your OS) but AVG-anti-spyware works fine with avast, there are others, check my signature for a start.

If you haven't already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.
1. Ewido, a.k.a. avg anti-spyware If using winXP. or a-Squared free if using win98/ME.
2. Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition
3. Spybot Search and Destroy
4. Spywareblaster Don't install this until you are clean.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free  24.8.6127 (build 24.8.9372.870) UI 1.0.818/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Not a conflict with avast.
I would use only the on-demand scanners of both AVGas and a-squared.
Three applications won't conflict. If you buy AVGas or a-squared you can choose one of them. Test them and see which one is better for your needs.

Spywareblaster keeps spyware off your computer but doesn't help if the spyware is already there. Run your spyware removal software first to make sure your computer is clean, then install Spywareblaster to help keep it clean.

No.

While it's not necessary, I find it handy to pause avast's standard shield while doing an on-demand scan with anything else.  That way you don't have both programs trying to scan the same file at the same time, and the scan by AVG AS (or whatever) should run a little faster.  Don't forget to resume avast afterwards, of course.

Although, Spywareblaster does not scans... it just immunize the computer.
