Hi Hard_ROCKER,

I have sent you a PM that explains my considerings at the moment. Whenever the thumb comes down, I report here further. But say ZA with me just hung by the "fingernails"!

The windows firewall has always been good at stealth, shame about the outbound protection, non-existent in XP crippled in Vista.

Hi Hard_ROCKER,

After 20 days of constant troubles with the latest version of ZA (delayed opening applications, having to reboot), I said enough is enough and I downloaded Comodo. Do you think that is a wise decision?

The windows XP firewall is usually good at keeping your ports stealthed (hidden). The firewall was included from XP SP1 I believe, but essentially the same functionality retained for XP SP2 though.

If the Firewall you use keeps your system safe, passes all the test and you're comfortable with it, KEEP IT:)
If your Firewall you've been using isn't compatible with the operating system you're installing,
then you have no choice but to find something new.
In my case, that was PC Tools Firewall Plus. For me, the firewall did it's job and was easy to use and easy on system resources.
When I needed to dump Vista due to system errors that Microsoft couldn't correct,
I dumped Vista  >:( but stayed with PC Tools Firewall Plus.  :)

sry for the delay but i was busy..  8) i keep using comodo coz as u said,it serves my needs and my system loves it.. :P i will use pc tools firewall plus one day only coz i like evaluating security programs..until then comodo keeps me hidden from the "bad guys".. ;)

Hi Comodo users in this forum,

Well I like the speed of Comodo. Had to adjust some settings,
but it is doing my bidding so far, and works well on my normal
user right's account with SafeXP installed.
Saw a connection IGMP outgoing destination 224.0.0.22 multicast.

"The address 224.0.0.22 goes to all multicast-enabled (IGMPv3) routers
within one hop, meaning in the same IP subnet of the host. But only one
of these routers becomes the "querier," as the RFCs explain. So IGMP
never worries about the specific address of any one router. The routers,
if multiple exist in the subnet, negotiate among themselves who gets to
be in control, and the hosts can remain as dumb as possible. Always do
the same thing, no matter what the router situation is.

You would get no IGMP queries from any router, and IGMP reports would be
dropped. You will note, for example, that Windows Media Player does not
depend on IP Multicast. It can also use unicast, TCP, HTTP, etc.

By the way, all of this discussion has been about edge multicast router
to multicast hosts. There is a whole other discussion about building
multicast trees between routers. There have been many schemes developed
to achieve that, but it looks like the ones in favour now are under the
Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) banner."

I think Comodo is a full-grown firewall,
