One thing I have gleaned from my pc and from friends attempting the update is that Win XP FAT32 presents an issue for it. NTFS, no.

We've got it simulated now. It's indeed a problem with FAT32 volumes.

A new version, 4.7.1001 is going out in about 30 minutes.

It had something to do with access rights management done by the avast installer... $:-\$

So if your friend hasn't updated to the 4.7.1001 version they should.
