Error message...
« on: February 18, 2004, 09:32:34 PM »
 ???
all of a sudden I got this error message:

UNKNOWN ERROR:
Storage cannot be created for the "Splash" task.

I clicked on OK and then the following error message came instead:

UNKNOWN ERROR:
Configuration is not loaded properly. Error: dbsCreateObject

Yet again I clicked Ok and then the third error message came

UNKNOWN ERROR:
Program cannot save parameters to the storage! (Error: dbsCreateObject)

after this one it did not come any more errormessages. But avast isn't working...

Whats wrong?

Thx in adv.

Seems like the Jet drivers are broken. Try switching to XML storage. To do this, open the file <avast>\data\avast4.ini and change the line

Database=ODBC

to

Database=XML

I did the changes you suggested and the errormessages are gone.

But I do have a red circle with a red diagonal over the avast icon in the systemwindow.
Does that implie that avast isn't working or what?

Yes it does. :(

What operating system are you using?
Is the situation the same even after reboot?
What happens if you click the (crossed) tray icon?

Thanks

Vlk is correct of course...
Why don't you try to uninstall / boot / install again ?
Which is your Internet Explorer version?  ;)
