Avast deletes the wrong file. this is unacceptable.
« on: July 15, 2021, 08:22:18 PM »
This is the second time this has happened. I opened a zip file that contained a few viruses (knowingly. I keep viruses for testing) and avast, instead of deleting the viruses, deleted the winzip executable!
What's next? avast is going to delete explorer.exe when I stumble upon a virus while using windows explorer to browse a folder???

This is completely wrong and should be fixed ASAP. Avast 21.5, win7 x64.

no message. That's why I couldn't understand why I wasn't able to open ZIP files anymore. I found out that winzip64.exe had disappeared and had to retore it from the original installer.

This is VERY simnilar to a few cases I suffered a couple of years ago, when avast started randomly deleting dozens of EXE files from my HD without even notifying me. Fortunately that does not had happened again (yet).
