2+2=4 there you go doubled ;D

Seriously though percentages are just another statistic that can be manipulated to fit what you want. When you start from a low start point it is easy to double that but to double it year on year that is somewhat more difficult.

What is the Mac user base in a percentage of all OSes surfing, so in isolation the doubling is still small potatoes. You only have to look at the monumental rise in firefox use, it had a huge head of steam, but not it has slowed as it is more difficult to double.

the percentage of online Macs running Apple’s operating system has climbed from the long-flat 3 percent to 5.6 percent, he said.

We see this with many Government statistics, when percentages are used to mislead and when compared to the raw figures is less meaningful.

Interesting article, thanks for the link Mac.

As we progress, I think you'll see a lot of people dual booting Windows with either Apple's Unix like operating systems, or Linux's various distributions.

There are advantages of having the two operating systems, particularly with Apple or Linux as the host operating system for security, and Windows as the guest operating system, for all of those things Windows is famous for.

Each system has it's strengths and weaknesses, and in response to the zealots on both sides of the argument, I personally don't believe that a person needs to make the decision of "either/or". "And" works very fine indeed.

As Apple's market share increases, it's good for Windows and Linux too.

@ Mac
I too don't see a reason why it won't increase now that Apple are using Intel cpu and chip sets, etc. That I would say has an effect on these figures, but to continually double is very hard. To go from 5.8% to 11.6% is a huge jump and that was my point. When you emphasise the doubling in isolation to the actual percentage share if you wait for the next doubling I feel you will be waiting a little longer than in this instance. It might even take twice as long ;D ;D

Considering how long it took for this doubling to occur,
I may be dead by the time this happens again and Mac may be a very old man.... ;D ;D
