Vista Home Premium Boot Scan Failure and Crash

Avast issues

I am experiencing related issues with vista home premium.

VRDB fails to establish properly

Boot scan seems to function normally then fails at the very end of the scan.  The system then freezes and forced shut down is needed. The system fails to start properly, startup repair fails; however system will ultimately boot normally if windows repair is bypassed.

Which is the last scanned file?

The system fails to start properly, startup repair fails; however system will ultimately boot normally if windows repair is bypassed.
But, in this case, will the boot time scanning be started again, as in a loop, or not, it will only run IF you manual ask it to do so?
