Then explain to me why I don't have that problem, as my post with images indicates - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=284118.msg1629284#msg1629284.

Not everyone is experiencing this problem or this forum would be on fire with activity.

Ordinarily with the Web Shield if there is a link on a site leading to a 3rd party site it alerts and blocks the primary site to prevent access, but it would normally give the primary site in the alert information, which is what I can't understand.

I have absolutely no idea, I just know the people in this thread and the other one who've indicated they have a problem, and a good buddy of mine in kentucky's having a problem.

so I can conclude, based off their reports, and your indicating to the contrary, that theres a false positive in the system for some reason or EVERYONE who uses both avast and amazon would be blowing a fuse.

just cause person a is having a problem doesnt mean person b will.

some of us are getting malware warnings and terminated connections to amazon.

ok, got some workarounds for the folks who dont feel safe messing with the exceptions list.

the mobile apps are unaffected, and can be used for most tasks on amazon.

if you have windows 10, there IS an amazon app available that has all the same features of the website and so far has NOT tripped avast's web shield.

If you go to https://www.amazon.com/ there is no block.

I do. every single time.

that said...

I bounced this off the guys over at tenforums and one user ran a check here https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/557ee3ca5f765ef99c3900580dac57fad08755e2283b6191bc109b06839753c2/detection and virus total says all clear...problem's definitely on avast's end.

What problem? There isn't any warning when you go to the official Amazon website.

are you running any other filtering/blocking software that may be interfering with avast's ability to screen? another user had like a gazillion security extensions on his system that it isn't even funny.

in any event, as I said earlier..just cause person a is not seeing a problem, doesn't mean the same is true for person b.

your operating environment is different from mine, so you've likely got a different security setup that may well be stopping you from reproducing this.

bob3160, My theory is that if you are happily married for at least 61 years, then you don't get the warning/block.  :)

For (at least some of) the rest of us mortals, the warning/block does appear quite often (see my related post at https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=284118.msg1629423#msg1629423).

when a URL flag keeps a site from loading, its a simple deduction to refer to it by the site in question when one is more familiar with said site.
that cloudfront getting flagged by avast was keeping amazon from loading, is a simple case of cause and effect.

when you factor in the fact that amazon owns cloudfront and uses it as a CDN(Content Delivery Network), this is further evidence to that effect.

that the whitelisting of cloudfront by the avast team has resolved the issue of being unable to access amazon was proceeded by the complete absence of alerts from the web shield backs this line of thought.

therefore...the conclusion of it being an amazon block is not an unreasonable or inaccurate conclusion.

Ordinarily with the Web Shield if there is a link on a site leading to a 3rd party site it alerts and blocks the primary site to prevent access, but it would normally give the primary site in the alert information, which is what I can't understand.

what exactly is your security setup? I ask, as I've maintained from the beginning, that everyone's operating environment is different. I'm running a minimalistic setup(avast, malware bytes, spybot SD, zone alarm firewall) as I need a more performance oriented configuration.

I did post it in one of these topics.

My default browser is Firefox - I also have some settings and extensions that could prevent 3rd party sites loading - so I don't know if this could be part of your problem. uBlock Origin, uMatrix, Privacy Badger and DucjDuckGo Privacy Essentials.

I have no problem connecting to amazon.co.uk (my normal connection for the uk) and no issues.

Just connected to amazon.com and still no issue.

In addition to that - I have Firefox, Privacy & Security - Enhanced Tracking Protection - set to Standard.

Avast very minimal - firewall windows - no other anti-malware or antivirus.
