Moving Server
« on: May 31, 2007, 10:55:25 AM »
Hi There.
A couple of months a go we bought an Avast Server license for a small server in our office.
We've now decided to replace the hardware since it sounds like a jet engine
which isn't to pleasant for our office.

We're moving everything across to the new server, and I'm just
wondering if we're going to have any problems moving the license across
to the new hardware?
I wasn't involved in setting up the original license, so I'm not sure
what's involved.

I don't believe that you'll have any problems in doing so.  I just did the same thing, only my old server was a windows 2000 advanced server, and it went to a 2003SBS server.

Since the server version doesn't work on a SBS box, I needed to purchase the other version.

However, if you have the same version for the same server, just install avast on your new box, and import the license file.  Hopefully you still have it.  I can't remember if you can export it or back it up from within Avast though.  You'll have to look around to see if you can.
