Trailhead: PT Boat 658 - 5 min / 30 sec

During World War II PT Boats, wooden craft armed to the teeth, fought in all avenues of the war.
Years passed and they were slowly replaced or turned into motor yachts for civilians.
Now none exist in their wartime glory, save one. The journey from sunken and sullied PT grave
to restored and refurbished military splendor is one of dedication, donation, and determination.
Only the Greatest Generation could have pulled it off. Their goal was simple, their path was not.
This is their story.

Play the video: Trailhead: PT Boat 658

DSL or Cable internet access suggested.  :)  Sorry Dave  :'(

Hi bob3160,

These boats had very famous captains, like JFK, the remnants of this boat turned up at the Solomon islands in 2002, re: http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/05/29/kennedy.boat/index.html

I just received the following offer:
Quote
Today's Hot Deals Daily Summary:

  + Apple MacBook Pro 17" Notebook Pre-Order ($2799+

I have 2 questions:

1. Is this really a bargain ???

Last year I purchase a Dell 17" Notebook but it came with Vista and the cost was $799.00

2. Is a MacBook Pro really worth an additional $2000.00 ???

Im betting your dell's hardware specs don't come close to whats in the MacBookPro. For example the LED panel in the MacBookPro is meant for Graphics professionals, it displays far more colors accurately than your average TN panel LCD thats in your Dell (although Dell does offer the option to upgrade your display when you are ordering). I would bet that just the screen of the MacBookPro costs over half of what you paid for that dell. I know that the processor that Apple is using costs almost half as much as your dell (the P9600 costs $348 in 1,000 unit quantities.) Does your Dell have integrated graphics or a discrete graphics processor?

You can not compare a budget laptop built on older chip technology to one thats built using the latest top of the line chips. Wither its a Mac or a PC.

EDIT: Just to compare I went to dells website and looked at their Studio 17 laptop. They dont even offer a processor option as high as whats in the MacBook Pro. The only graphics option is a 256MB Mobility Radeon HD 3650 with no way to increase the graphics memory. The Max amount of memory is 4GB, where the MacBookPro can hold 8GB. No Option for firewire 800 (does it have firewire at all?)

In Short its the hardware that makes the MacBookPro cost more, if you found a PC laptop (im sure they are out there) with specs clost to what Apple offers the price tag would be just as high.
