Google Chrome...bundled with RealPlayer?!

For me that would be a killer as I have avoided realplayer like the plague that it is (IMHO). I use real alternative if I have any file types that would use it.

When are they going to stop bundling all this Cr*p and let users decide if they need or want it.

Google Operating System’s Alex Chitu reports that the latest version of Real Networks’ RealPlayer comes bundled with Google Chrome and, by default, installs the browser.

So we don't even know if there is an option not to install it.

David,
If you download Real Player (I wouldn't), then you get Google Chrome.

When you download Google Chrome, that's all you get.  ;D

Browser Vulnerability Statistics

I would not have expected Firefox to have the most vulnerabilities. Opera has the fewest with IE and Safari not far behind.

I guess when you add this (ActiveX had the 366 reported vulnerabilities) to IE then it doesn't look quite so rosy for IE.

Quote

In terms of browser plug-in problems, ActiveX had the 366 reported vulnerabilities last year. Java had 54 security issues, followed by QuickTime with 30, Flash with 19, and Firefox Extension with one. The Opera Widget had no reported vulnerabilities.

But again historical data is just that history, speed of patching and keeping your browser up to date tell a different story, so again it is the old adage, lies, damn lies and statistics.

How Much Ink is left in that dead Cartridge?

Very surprising. Really makes me glad I use a laser printer.

It is working here also.

I have a Cannon Pixma iP4000 and when the software says they are empty, they are bone dry, so absolutely no waste there, but I tend to ignore the the ink level is low warning and wait for it to say it is empyt. My (compatible) cartridges are transparent so it is easy to check unlike some manufactures using opaque cartridges.

I used to have a Cannon S300 about 3 years ago and it would leave quite a bit of ink in the cartridge after it stopped printing. So I found a Used HP LaserJet 1200  and love it. Much less money spent on ink and HP has excellent Mac drivers.

I abandoned all HP products years ago when my then expensive A3 professional ink jet printer didn't have a printer driver for XP and they had no intention of providing. So to continue using a windows driver I lost much of the functionality I had with win98se (you can see how long ago this is) reducing a perfectly good printer to scrap.

So I think there is two sides to the printer driver support, I swore I would never by another HP product and for over 6 years that has held true. I vote with my feet and cash, another to fall foul to this policy is Sony after the rootkit issue I haven't bought a singly Sony item and that isn't easy.

A lot of HP printers do not have, yet, a Vista driver... it's a shame!
It's just a way to force to buy a new printer... shame, shame... on this bad support.

One of the reasons I stick with Epson. I still have a printer that must be at least 10 years old and still works
as a network printer.

I still have my HP Laserjet 4L, now still on its second cartridge and - when I use it - printing like a champ well more than 10 years into its life (now on an XP system even though it started life attached to Win95).

The only other printer I have is a USB attached HP Inkjet 930C (my main printer) that I bought on some special offer in 2000.  After rebate it was free.  I do not print photographs, I sometimes print coupons to save money at my local supermarket, other than that ... why print? Almost any other print function can be converted to PDF for saving  ... ok if a recipe is complicated I may just print it.
