Has anyone seen this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQmz6Rbpnu0

please watch.

Everybody there seemed to be scold by a twelve year old girl.   ;D  In case you are wondering what is going on, it's a famous (Well...to be honest, I didn't know that) speech by Severn Cullis-Suzuki at Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

However, I'm wondering how much this speech is affective since US seems to have begun to be tired of Obama's seemingly empty idealism while even Neo-Con, who was once silenced by the economic recession, regaining its power.  Obama became the US president probably in the worst time in these decades since US may be at the edge of paying their swollen dept now that it appears to have lost the power as the world's biggest consumption power with the high unemployment rate and thus losing its throne as the mother country of a key currency.  I'm wondering if US is shifting from escapist idealism to escapist nationalism...I hope this will be proven wrong.  :-\

I think that we humans feel we can control the climate and the global warming situation but a million years from now things will be the same except for that asteroid that still has to find us.

Didn't know that...sounds interesting.

If you are talking of theories around global warming, the opinion is even divided among people with more scientific knowledge and the output tends to be too political to be judged by purely scientific viewpoints.  However, I agree that human beings have the tendency of seeing things in favor to themselves.  Then, again, that can be said from both political sides.
Quote
And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch?  A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.  And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye (Luke 6:39-42).

At least, here, she was speaking of what are really happening such as pollutions, war and starvation, which can be seen through our own eyes if we go to some places on this planet, rather than something abstract like theories around global warming.

bob3160, please read my whole post.  It should be very clear that I haven't taken either side about theories around global warming.  Or should I quote myself again?

Thanks ... I did get home safely though it was one of the worse flight experiences I've ever had.

Nothing bad with the airplanes, thankfully.   :)
