adding: power management in Seven is one of the best achievements in Windows ever, like resuming from sleep mode takes about 2 seconds, with instant connection to the Internet (except in my case when AIS firewall was running ;D >>> fixed since I removed it).

I never had that or any other problem when testing AIS firewall - I think occurs with 64bit if I recall correctly

Edit - mind you, that was quite a while ago

Can you guess what is being unloaded here?

Hint: picture was  taken in 1956...

It's a hard disk drive back in 1956... with 5 MB of storage.

In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'SUPER' computer with a hard disk drive (HDD).
The HDD weighed over a ton and stored a 'whopping' 5 MB of data.

Do you appreciate your 8 GB memory stick or flash drive a little more now?

To put that into better perspective, that 8 GB has a capacity of 1600 times what could be stored on the drive pictured above.
I believe the IBM drive sold close to one million dollars and that was back when a dollar was worth a lot more than it is today!
That works out to over 1.5 billion of today's dollars for something we can now purchase for less than $15!
We live in an amazing world. Imagine what will be around in another 54 years!! Wow!!

@ bob3160

I actually saw a 305 RAMAC HDD when I worked at IBM.

It was replaced by a 2305 fixed head storage unit that offered up to 11.2 million bytes per module:

OMG...
When I got my first computer (in the 90's) the HDD was 2GB. Talk about progress  ;D
Now I'm up to 225 GB largest HDD.

What was the price tag on these machines by the way?

Looks amazing. How many shots did it take to create the panorama, and what was the resolution of each shot?
I'll try this out once my courses are over.
Thanks in advance.

Edit:
Never mind.... I did a few quick snap shots with my 2 Megapixel Web Cam and I can't believe how fast that worked. Exported the end result as a JPEG and I can't believe my eyes.... That's absolutely amazing how fast that was done.

Just putting this out there, but with a tripod, if i took a set of shots and created on panorama, and then shift the tripod to the right 2-3 cm and create a secondary panorama of the same surroundings, I could create a 3-D panorama (with the help of Paint NET).

By 3-D I mean something along the lines of:
http://www.coryi.org/images/CCAFS3D.bmp

Thanks for the program Bob. When I really have a lot of spare time, I'll try the 3-D Experiment.

I was also impressed in the speed in which ICE produced it's amazing stitchery.
The second Panorama was comprised of 12 shots using a 10 MP Cannon camera.
I'm actually looking forward to creating a great many more of these Panoramas. :)

This also proves that some products from MS are great even for free.  ;D

Very nice, Bob, and thanks for sharing.   :)

If any of you try scrolling in and out on those photos, you'll see interesting results.

These pictures where all taken with a 10 mega pixel camera so there's a lot of detail available.   :)

It sure has been hot here lately. This picture from my neighbors dog gets the message across:

Damien mentioned it's also been hot in Holland.
