I can't believe you guys are discussing a topic that's never been an issue on hundreds of Minefield builds since June last year... there's never been any issue switching from new to old UI style... happens in two clicks... no tutorial needed lol  ;D ... + one magic click to make the status bar appear or not, yeah that's three ... and askvg managed to make a tuto for that :D

ps: an advanced "extra" (  :D ) tip: press alt to make the file menu temporarily appear while in new UI mode. There use to be an extension for that during the beta testing, now it's integrated.

Right-click on the the toolbar and click on Tabs on Top (or whatever it exactly is in your language).

I did that, "tabs on top" is checked, but it doesn't merge unless maximised...  ???

that's normal ;D

don't know what the behavior's on XP, for me on Seven, tabs and ff button merge only when maximized. That's a design thing.

... but I still got the disjointed FF button and tabs (on top) when FF maximized, ie not exactly aligned. Might (just a guess) be a matter of whether you use a personas skin or a "classic" skin, or a matter of screen resolution.... yeah that's most likely after all.

ps: on a side note, very few classic skins are available for FF4, as they got to work with both old and new UI style, and the only available ones are absolutely ugly.

Well it is the same for me in both XP Pro and win7 netbook:
My firefox setup is pretty much the same, I have the status bar (or what they are now calling the Add-on Bar) enabled and I use the Nuvola 1.10 theme is is a compact theme, so it may or may not force the tab bar and firefox button merging even in non-minimised mode.

I don't use Personas now tried them in 3.6 and wasn't that impressed, preferred themes that worked in all areas.

I also use these two add-ons which may or may not have an effect, Tab Mix Plus (though don't think so) and Colourful Tabs 4.8.1.6.

A search engine that doesn't track you.
tartup search engine DuckDuckGo (DDG for short) spells it out,
right on their front page: "We don't track you!" And they're serious about that.

yeah not the first time such an engine comes out of nowhere and claims the no-tracking thing... I don't question that it's probably true. But such engines get forgotten very quickly, as they have little to no chance to compete with Google (even Bing can't)... let alone that the tracking - to some extend - is necessary to improve search engines' efficiency.

 But yeah, that's interesting ;)

It does not show WebRep ratings like Google nor Bing.  ::)

This should be in the off-topic board. :(
