Offline EM25

Hi, I'm getting errors with my free version of Avast. It's stopped working. I thought I'd uninstall and install again, but can't even get to that. When I try to follow the uninstall instructions, the application won't start up.

When I try to update the definitions, it says, "You seem to be offline."  When I attempt to scan, it says the scan failed.

What do I do to set this up properly? It worked in the past.

Mac OS 11.4
Mac Mini Late 2014
16G Ram
Safari 14.1.1

It would be best to post this in the Avast Mac Security forum, this section is for the Windows version of Avast.
