I'm assuming Web Shield proxies for port 80 and 443. Does it proxy for any other ports?

Hi

Open Avast!>>Settings>>Troubleshooting>>Redirect settings>>Web

Pretty sure those listed are the ports it proxies for and scans.

Port 443 is the HTTPS port secure encrypted traffic, so avast doesn't monitor that traffic, that is the whole point of HTTPS, to keep prying eyes out.
