Hi everybody!
I have a problem here. Help me, please, the brightest minds!
after installation, there's message on the screen: " Unknown error. Scan completed with error. 183=Cannot create a file when that file already exists." I'm not good at computers, but just guessing that the cause of this problem might be that I'd had Avast Home Edition 4.7 before. But it was unitstalled.
Do you know how to solve it?  ;D
I wanna keep Avast as the antivirus....  :(

Please, don't post twice the same. Just double the help effort...
If you uninstall avast, it's not guilty here...
Maybe, as I've posted before, you should open your own thread for this.
When you do that, we will need more information to be able to help you:
- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- What avast! version (4.7.xxx) and VPS file (virus database) number?
- Which actions have you taken to try solving the problem?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?
- Any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially 'Errors'.

Did you install Stunnel? Without Stunnel you won't be able to get Gmail to an email program (Pop3) and use avast at the same time.

Well, so you are THE GUY here? The brightest one?=))
There's some additional info for u:

-Avast 4.7 home
-Windows XP, updated
-Additional protective software is: Adware, MAX registry. No other antivirus.
-VPS 000757-3
If you tell me what other programs could interfere with Avast software, then i can answer.

And, more polite tech support answer would be nice to read!=)
Thank you!

Well... I never intend to be impolite... I won't be here for free helping if I need to be impolite...

I'd had Avast Home Edition 4.7 before. But it was unitstalled.
Again, if you uninstall avast, it's not guilty here...
What is exactly the problem that you have 'without' avast installed?

techman94,

there is very little thread discipline in avast and so having multiple discussions going on in this thread makes life confusing.

However, I use the gmail extension every day with with Thunderbird.  If you need help with getting it to work let me know and we can discuss it outside this messy thread.

I don't understand... you've said you've uninstalled avast and after that avast is the problem, I just can't understand how avast could be the problem if it isn't even installed.

Telephones and email are available in http://www.avast.com/eng/how-to-contact-alwil-software.html
Just note: those numbers and contacts are NOT for technical support of avast! Home users. For Home users there is running nice support/ticketing system on the http://support.avast.com/ website or forums here.
