when you join the beta program (by using aswbeta.exe) then whenever you use the "get program updates" function from the avast menu you will get the latest beta update.  This will last until the avast team distributes the new live version (or makes the latest beta the live version) when we are all automatically dropped from the beta program and continue on the live version of the program.

Simply put ... no you will not have to uninstall and re-install if you test with the beta.  Remember however that this is a beta program - you should only participate if you are willing to deal with some of the glitches that happen from time to time in beta releases.

thank you alanrf  :) i'v beta tested before so i tryed to download from the link in this post from VlK and it started to download and got to the part where it was downloading something over 600,000 and stoped at around 40,000 and i had to cancel then avast setup crashed and it asked me to restart so i got offline (i'm on dialup) and it wanted to send a error report but i was off line so i let avast restart my pc and ckecked the avast version and it did not change so i got back online and in comodo firewall i could see avast downloading updates and when it was done it asked to restart my pc and now avast says i have version 4.7.1024 it seems to be working ok so far  :)

Version 4.7.1026 has now been uploaded. It fixes a couple of things in the scanning engine and the cosmetic issue of the Quick scanner reported by alanrf above (thanks for that).

Cheers

Avast Home GUI Problem - Edited for clarification...
« Reply #21 on: July 21, 2007, 10:18:19 PM »
Having a problem with the SUI Skin on one of the two machines where I have Home Edition installed. The attached image is taken from the machine without the problem to illustrate where the problem lies.

When I access the 'Standard Menu' and then try to use any of the cascading menus, I can't..! The next level menu appears as expected but when I move the pointer to them...they disappear! Occasionally I can 'hop' to a next level menu if I move the mouse fast enough, but it's 'hit and miss'! Using the skin itself to access scan options works, i.e. using the 'sliding boxes'. This seems like some kind of graphics related issue maybe, but I don't remember it happening prior to this Beta...

See attached...thanks.

By the way, any one using Prevex2 will have a problem.
At the moment, Prevex considers ASWBETA.EXE unsafe and puts the file into their Jail.

I've already sent them a notice.

Yes Bob had the same problem! Aswbeta.exe is on probation but working fine.

This happened before... I don't think this is related to this beta particularly.
Did you change the 'menu timeout' with some tweaker program?
