i wonder if up dating program in betreen updates has something to do with avast files and event viewer not showing it. will avast detect that i may not have it, or can i somehow request it from avast. thanks  darth

Program Updates will also include VPS updates if applicable.

As for not showing it if it wasn't on your system then the jump from 762-2 to 762-4 I would think would be all that is shown.

You don't need to request anything as the updates are incremental the update process checks what VPS version you have, what the current one is and downloads the missing ones.

If, like me, you're on dialup and have been offline for a while, it's not that uncommon to see the vps "version" jump by two or even more when you update.  Avast checks to see what you need, and brings you right up to date.

If there are several revisions nearly back-to-back, most if not all of those will probably be to correct false positives, rather than to protect against a flood of new (or newly diagnosed) threats.
