how the fate of free avast will definitely be removed like avira that was first bought by norton

Um, AVIRA Free is still there on official AVIRA webpage... Unless I'm missing something here...

Well, if avast! Free will indeed stick around and technology would be shared between Norton, AVIRA and avast!, then there might be exciting times ahead. Norton and AVIRA both have interesting tech that would be nice to have in avast! and avast! also has capable tech that could end up in Norton and AVIRA. And having merged detection databases and cloud capabilities could put them faaaaaar ahead of competition. But I'm probably looking too optimistic in all this as it'll all just end up in Norton and they'll cannibalize all others into nothingness and then kill the products off. Just seen that too many times so far...

These AV companies keep merging because they can't compete with Microsoft Defender, eventually there will be 2 or 3 left with 1 or 2 free AV's left me thinks.

The only one to benefit from these mergers are the shareholders.

The link you provided led me to buy subscriptions, but if I go via Google search I can read the topic with the same URL. Strange.

The topic itself is a good read.

This article could use some proofreading. How many different ways can they spell Mr. Vlcek's name? It's difficult to read starting with the first sentence.

What I get out of this is that 1000 people are going to lose their job.
