ook... the file is really related to IRCbot virus... pack it to the password protected zip and send it to virus[at]avast[dot]com... the mail should contain a short description (virus name or the virtotal scan results) and of course the password...

when sent - run HJT again and check the items for the file itself and for its startup reference (C:\WINDOWS\vpcrtf.exe and O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Visual Application] vpcrtf.exe) and fix them..

i can only fix the 04-hklm file on the HJT... the c:\windows\vpcrtf.exe i cant find it on HJT.. where shud i find it to delete it... is this wut i should do??

HJT can't find the file now? hmm... looks better :).. you'll see after reboot if your computer still produces some unwanted net traffic...

unwanted net traffic means sending some data by the IRCbot (you can monitor net traffic with TDImon by SysInternals)..
looks better means that the IRCbot is probably gone..

how do i pack it to a password protected zip cos when i add to vprtf.rar there is no password to be put...

nevermind i already send to virus@avast

The reason it is important to password protect the attachment is it could be scanned by email servers on route to avast.com, if the archive isn't protected it might be extracted and detected, resulting in the deletion of the attachment before it arrives at avast.com.

So if you didn't manage to password protect it you should submit it again.

Fixing an 04 in HijackThis removes the startup registry entry but doesn't delete the file it referred to.

C:\WINDOWS\vpcrtf.exe  needs to be deleted and, if your recycle bin is on, empty it after the deletion  :)
