Question about Firefox and Flash Player
« on: August 23, 2007, 02:58:46 PM »
If anyone here uses these maybe you can help me.  I have FF 2.0.0.6 and Flash Player 9.0.28.  There is a newer version of Flash 9.0.47.  When I go to the download page, I d/l it to my desktop and then click on it to run.  I then go to the Adobe page to verify installation and it shows I have no player at all installed.  The d/l removed the Player that I had.  Luckily I had saved the previous installation and reinstalled that.  I posted this question on the Firefox forum but have had no answers that work.  Would anyone here be able to help.  Thanks

It is always the best thing you can do to completely uninstall the old version of the Flash player and then proceed with installation of the new one. Even though new installations are supposed to remove the old version and then install new one, sometimes, especially Flash plug-in installations for browsers are acting kind of weird.

I don't have problems on either of my browsers, not on PC nor on my Mac. IE7, Firefox and Safari, all three have the latest version of Flash installed without any problems.

Oh... forgot to mention Flock... no problems there either.

SasH, I tried what you suggested and it will not install at all.  I have to go back to my copy of version 9.0.28 and reinstall that.

Thanks for all the replies.

drhayden, right now I don't have it installed.  I have tried at least 5 times today at the link you posted and it will just not install.  When I double click on it it looks like it installs but then I click on the details and it says copy failed to program files or something like that.  I guess I just have to accept the fact that I just can't get it to install and use the old version.  Thanks anyway.

Well, I finally got it.  I used an XPI package instead of the stand alone installer and it worked.  I want to thank everyone for trying to help me today.
Have a good evening.
