If you search the board for 0x00002EE2 keyword, will it help?
Do you use a firewall? Which one?

Hello
I am running XP
Avast Home 4.7
I have a license key
Avast will not dowload VPS files updates from the internet
<snip>

Outside of the log are there any errors displayed, if so what are they (screenshot perhaps) ?

Is this only on auto-updates ?
Are you able to do a manual update (right click the avast 'a' icon, Updating, iAVS Update) ?

Looking at your log there are a couple of lines "27.08.2007 01:13:34 package: Not using NTLM" A search for NTLM found this, so if you are using a LAN perhaps there is a problem with permissions or NTLM not running, sorry I can't be more practical help I don't use a LAN.

Quote
NTLM is a Microsoft authentication protocol used with the SMB protocol. MS-CHAP is similar and is used for authentication with Microsoft remote access protocols. During protocol negotiation, the internal name is nt lm 0.12. The version number 0.12 has not been explained. It is the successor of LANMAN, an older Microsoft authentication protocol, and attempted to be backwards compatible with LANMAN. NTLM was followed by version two NTLMv2, at which time the original was renamed NTLMv1.
