Hi Folks;
There seem to be a number of folk both here and in the Ubuntu forums, swearing to the heavens that Linux is completely safe from viral and trojan attacks. That may indeed be the case. However, a key element for running scripts is not: Java.
Java's used everywhere, across multiple platforms, and is as open to attack as is windoze!
Don't believe me? Visit a couple of "questionable" sites, I dunno -- porn, warez, gamer sites, or even MySpace, on your Linux OS system, and then run Avast! I guarantee it'll snag Blackbox and ByteVerify, just to name two out of 6 I found...
Thanks be to the crew who put the Linux version(s) together. Downloading and installing it was well worth my time.
Now though, if they could only bring the functionality up to parity with the windoze version... I'd be in heaven...
Cheers;
Ed
