Avast Status Restart Message: Proper English
« on: September 14, 2021, 08:01:45 PM »
This has been bugging me for a while. When your computer needs to be restarted after an update, the message under Status states, "Your computer needs restarting." This is improper English. The message should read, "Your computer needs to be restarted."

-ing should be used to emphasize the experience or process.
-to should be used to emphasize the final future goal.

In this case the future goal is to restart the computer. We are not focusing on the process of restarting a computer.
I know this is a dialect in many areas, including mine, but it drives me crazy as I'm an import to my locale and won't get used to it :-)

Thanks!

Sorry but it's 6 of one or 1/2 dozen of another.
Nothing wrong with the message.
