Too intrusive
« on: September 16, 2021, 11:21:17 PM »
I have used the free version of Avast for some years. A couple of months ago, I gave in to the pressure of their advertising, and bought the paid for version. Or one of them. I had no idea there were so many! Now, instead of my anti-virus program running discreetly in the back ground, every time I start doing anything, up Avast pops, showing its presence, and more often than not, suggesting I buy another add-on, or variation! I'm not a computer geek, or terribly interested, tbh, and now  wish I hadn't bought into it. I don't want to know its even there, nor do I want to buy anything else. Is there a way to stop it? I feel I'm going to be hounded forever...!

I can only assume that you aren't actually using Avast One for Windows (title of this sub-forum and a very recent release, but Avast Premium ?

If so - Open the Menu > Settings > General > Personal Protection - uncheck promotions for other avast products and 3rd party products.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security
