Ref: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=301162.msg1655458#msg1655458

Does anyone know of a Android AV product that does have a webshield that works with Firefox Browser?

I'm currently using Chrome to keep the web shield scanning active, as the differences in mobile browsers aren't as great.  I haven't tried Opera yet, I think that also works with AMS, web shield.

However to your main question, over the last week I have checked out a number of android AVs, I normally start by looking at the Google Play feedback scores and comments, usually the dissatisfied ones first and some are downright shocking.

I have also tried a few and they haven't lasted very long at all.  I have mainly been looking at the mainstream players in the Windows arena with android apps, the free ones tend to be virtually crippled, pushing towards paid versions.

But my other issue (complicates matters even further) of having a Samsung phone (two) on Android 11 (nightmare) and a Samsung Tablet, thankfully still on Android 10.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Remember that Opera is Chinese owned.

At the moment is it worse than the Avast Mobile Security, Web Shield not scanning Firefox browsing.

If you don't want to use Chrome, use the Avast Secure Browser. :)

If you don't want to use Chrome, use the Avast Secure Browser. :)

Even less chance of that (ASB Chromium based) than using Chrome and I'm currently using Chrome and looking at other browsers, the fact that Avast Mobile Security, Web Shield basically supports Chrome and Opera according r@vast.

Hi,

It is currently only supported on Chrome and Opera. Our developers are working on a new solution addressing the current limitations.

So anyone living under the misapprehension (for god knows how long) that the web shield is protecting them, has either been lucky or using Chrome or Opera.

Are you sure about that? Web shield doesn't scan MS Edge.

No, I'm not and I don't have Edge installed to be able to check it. Sorry.

Why does Avast Webshield work on FF under Windows, but not under Android?

I have no plans to use Chrome Browser on my Android device.

Like DavidR I am riled by being misled by Avast regarding this serious unpublished limitation of Avast Mobile Security, hence looking elsewhere.

Are Avast doing anything to correct this flaw?
