Vista doesn't recognize Avast
« on: September 11, 2007, 04:46:51 AM »
Ok, so I'm sure you guys have heard this one before, but I can't find anything about this when I searched these forums.  I have just installed Vista Home Premium, and the Windows Security Center does not detect that I have an antivirus running.  Is there a way to correct this?  I thought Avast was fully compatible with Vista?  Also, the on-access protection doen't automatically turn on like it did under XP.  Thanks.

Nevermind.  Apparently, it takes 'several' reboots before the system recognized Avast.  Thanks anyway.

In this computer, was there any other pre-installed antivirus?

The prompt here is to 'open' (start) the antivirus or to update?
You can run avast 'without' administrator privileges it won't be able to do its duty. Nor AVG or any other antivirus...

The word "run" I mean both...
thas mean when we run the avast from the icon at desktop and the update also...
I think other antivirus have already recogize as trusted program....
No permission required to run or update....
thats what i mean...
Sorry if my languages are not so good...

I never read that Vista has a 'trusted' program list...
Each time, each application needs admin rights the UAC system will ask for permition...
Are you talking about Vista (operational system) permition or any other 3rd party program?

It's running at user level. Can't manage system files, update program, for instance. I suppose...
