DOMINO PLUGIN
« on: September 13, 2007, 02:24:49 PM »
Hello Avast Community,

Domino Plugin seams not to scan mail boxes found into Domino server :
   - no logs into Avast domino database
   - no logs into AvDomSrv.exe console (see screen capture)
What's wrong ? how does Lotus Domino plugin works ? Where can we find the manual for avast! lotus Domino Edition ?

Thanks for your answer

OS : Windows 2003 Server
Avast : AVAST 4.7.766
Lotus DOMINO Server V7

Has it worked previously? Or is this a clean install?

Thanks

It's a new install (server version's)...and it has never worked.

Is there a user manual (for this version, not the one of AVAST32) ?

thanks for your reply...

Hi, sorry, the user manual has not been finished yet, but basic principles are explained also in avast!32 manual. When you left-click on "a" icon in system tray, what is the state of Domino plugin? Are there some values near "Last scanned", "Scanned count", ...fields for Domino plugin? Is event log showing something? If you open notes.ini, are  references for AvDomSrv and AvDomHk there? Sorry again for such problems, I hope we will solve it soon.

Hello,

-1- I've joined a screen capture with all the answers...
-2- In Notes.ini, reference to AvDomHk and AvDomSrv is OK

If it can help you :
- I must launch manually AvDomSrv.exe.
- In Domino,  AvastDB.nsf has been created.

thanks for your help,

Hi, manually starting of AvDomSrv.exe? This is not good. This process must be launched by Domino itself (this is the reason why reference to AvDomSrv.exe is included in notes.ini) to initialize plugin properly. Isn't there possible that something in Domino is blocking launching of AvDomSrv.exe? If you don't start AvDomSrv.exe manually, is the state of Domino plugin "Waiting for subsystem"? Pavel Sedina

Thank you, Your message help me....

Effectively, the notes.ini was the file of a "lotus notes client" installed on the server. That's why the avdomsrv task wasn't launched on lotus domino server sartup. Now it works fine...

A couple of final notes:

1. Make sure to have the reference to AvDomHk in the RIGHT ini file as well
2. AvDomSrv can be started manually, but not directly but only from the Domino console like this:

load AvDomSrv

Similarly, you can unload the module before shutting down Domino by using this console command

tell AvDomSrv quit

Cheers
