After Avast uninstall Windows can't find Outlook

I uninstalled Avast and now when I try to open Outlook, Windows replies that it cannot find it.    It does this even when I go to the folder containing the actual "Outlook.exe" file and try to open that.
I have exactly the same problem with Microsoft Edge.   
 
I complained to Microsoft, and they are reporting that this is a know problem CAUSED BY AVAST.

What do I do now to get my Office suite of programmes working properly.

I have had a really kind and helpful email giving me the following fix

1. open run  (Windows key + r)

2. type regedit

3. navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

4. delete the folders of the apps that don`t work

I followed the steps - it worked!    Brilliant - thanks Bill.
