remove Avast icon from system tray
« on: October 15, 2021, 02:54:13 PM »
I am using 21.8.2487 (build 21.8.6586.696).
Now there is an icon in my system tray I cannot figure out how to remove.

How can this be removed?
Thanks,
-Mike

Open the Avast UI (app user interface)
Menu>Settings>Notifications> untick "Show Avast tray icon"

I think you may need to do a restart after that to enact the change.

PS: The Avast tray icon is very useful to perform actions, so I 'm surprised you do not want to have it displayed.

Not sure why you would even want to do this  ?
I guess the same way as other icons in the system tray can be moved.

Drag the icon into the Hidden Icons area, see attached image.  This way it can still be accessed and brought back if required.
If you can't see the avast UI icon you can't see if avast is scanning content, etc.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thanks,
I just let Avast run in the background and occasionally check for updates.
