Hi,

Avast installed liked a malware and I had to use the cleaner in Windows in save mode. The virus scanner was deleted then but it leaves a file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avast Software\Overseer\overseer.exe

I checked the avast cleaner but there is no option to delete this as well. How can I delete the rest of avast free as it seems the cleaner is not working fine.

Regards,
Nils

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant removing the remaining file manually in safe mode.

No problem.

Seems like Avast CleanUp needs a rework, why would it leave anything in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avast Software\ folder.

Removed it manually now in standard mode. Was not sure if this is fine so I asked here before. Also found some entries left in the registry that I removed.

Are there other things that have to be deleted manually which are not removed by cleaner?

In most cases the normal uninstall should be fine.  With the backup for that being the avast! Uninstall Utility, avastclear.exe, that you said you ran.
