Avast Password as a standalone module
« on: October 16, 2021, 11:53:00 AM »

I'm a huge fan of Avast Passwords and subscribe to both Avast Premium Security as well as having a paid Avast Passwords subscription. I'm happy to keep renewing both subscriptions every year.

That said, what I want to do is be able to totally disable Avast Premium Security real-time protection in a way that allows Windows 10 to no longer recognise that Avast is installed so that I can enable Microsoft Defender for long testing purposes instead.

Even if I disable all other modules in Avast Premium Security, Windows 10 will still not allow Microsoft Defender to take over as the main AV because it recognises that Avast is still installed.

1. Is there a registry setting I can modify in Windows 10 to prevent it from seeing that Avast is still installed?

2. Is it possible to have Avast Passwords installed, but not Avast Free or Premium Security?

3. Can Avast Passwords be purchased as a standalone product?

Any other ideas?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Regards, Andrew

1. You can set Avast to passive mode.
2. Nope.

Setting Avast Premium Security to Passive Mode worked perfectly.

Thank you very much for your help Asyn. Much appreciated.
