Uninstalling AVG Before Installing Avast

Tech. When I right click the "a" icon button, there is no "details" button.

When I click the box saying not to show this window again, I get an IE Script Error message asking me if I want to continue running scripts. How can I prevent this window + error message from coming up each time? Thanks.

Set on [Simple] section of avast4.ini file the value:

Change the value if the line exists.
Add the line if it does not exists (on section Simple).

Tech. I first set the value to "0", nothing happens, then I set the value back to "1", the window is gone. Thanks again for all your help.

I see that this topic has not been posted in for at least 20 days but am hoping that I will still receive a reply.
A friend of mine has a fairly new computer (purchased within the past 6 months), with Windows Vista.  The NAV expired and AVG was installed.  I spoke to them about avast and they want to install.  I was reading thru this forum as well as searching the net for uninstall procedures and came upon this website. - www.pchell.com/virus/uninstallavg.shtml  .  I would really appreciate any and all input from forum members as to the usability of this sites info.  The computer in question appears to be suffering from virus, which I am not surprised and the sooner avast is installed, the better.

You should also follow the instructions for norton removal on the page that you posted the link to.

Do these before you install avast.

After uninstalling AVG:

1) Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
2) Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
3) Boot.
4) Install avast! Boot.
5) See what you get.
