Avast Premium Security - DNS problem
« on: November 10, 2021, 02:10:28 PM »

Hello,
We have discovered an interesting problem caused by active Avast Premium Security shields. In our company we have our own DNS server that resolves the domain address mail.xxxx.cz on the local network to a local IP address. That is, users locally access the mail server via the local IP address, not the public IP. On all PCs (where AVAST is not installed) it works without any problem, but after installing a new PC (Windows 11) with Avast Premium Security installed, the problem occurred that the address translation does not work correctly. When querying the domain address mentioned, it returns the public IP address on that PC and not the local IP address that is passed by the local DNS server. We noticed that if we deactivate all AVAST shields and reactivate them, the translations work correctly, but after rebooting the PC the problem is back and we have to repeat the mentioned action. Please solve this problem. Thanks

Hi,

Can you please disable "Real Site" and let us know if it helps (Protection > Real Site).

Hello,
yes shield "Real sites" causes this problem. Can you please tell me how we can make an exception for a certain domain so that we don't have to have this shield permanently disabled?

For larger companies and corporations this kind of local translation may be common practice. In this case mentioned protection shield from AVAST is unusable.

Thank you for any solutions
